Senate Republicans are coalescing around a long-shot bid to dismiss the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump before it even begins.
They're relying on a disputed legal argument that says putting an ex-president on trial is unconstitutional
The same Republicans who warned earlier about not rushing the process?
Rush Limbaugh reacts to the inauguration with conspiracy theories: "This is something that's been arranged, rather than legitimately sought and won ... They have not legitimately won it."
This is false.
Joe Biden legitimately won it.
Anyone who claims to be a conservative leader should acknowledge this basic fact.
On Fox, Chris Wallace says Biden sent a message that "especially us in the media must note":
"Whether it's us on the air, on cable or broadcast, whether it's us on social media, on our Twitter accounts: understanding that we have to deal from facts, from the truth."
The fact that this simple observation will be controversial says a lot about this moment.

Why would the Biden administration engage in a new round of arms control talks when Russia is violating the old ones w/impunity? "A treaty is not worth the paper it is printed on if it can be violated without consequence."
The hardcore MAGA crowd will remain, of course, and those few who consistently opposed Trump will escape with their reputations intact. But for most GOP officials, apparatchiks, and commentators, whitewashing the Trump years will be the only way forward:
