Whoever that former cast member/idiot jerkoff is that went to Trump’s treasonous rally, got a message for ya... You are officially exiled from #BachelorNation !!!
Matt James is the first Black "Bachelor"—but he alone can't solve the franchise's issues with race
“During this time, an anti-racism petition about the franchise began circulating, with demands that included casting a Black Bachelor for season 25 and hiring a diversity consultant for the show; it was signed by multiple alumni.” ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #BIPOCBachelor #TheBachelor
Great news, I checked and there’s absolutely nothing else to watch on TV tonight. No sporting events at all. So enjoy #TheBachelor
Except racism masked as patriotism, an attempted coup, and democracy teetering on the brink of extinction. Other than that, enjoy! #TheBachelor
We acknowledge this pain and fear, and the ongoing national crisis, & thus will not be live-tweeting tonight’s episode.
We support people’s choice to watch privately, but personally wish to keep the conversation focused on highlighting + addressing the grave issues of the day.
Watching #TheBachelor may provide a welcome distraction from the chaos of this week, but we should all recognize that many of us don’t have this luxury—we saw flags of our death & oppression flown freely in our Capitol, encouraged by the President.
We've always tried to highlight the lack of racial diversity on our Bachelor screen. This season is no exception! We are highlighting POC contestants that didn't get enough screen time & POC contestants we said goodbye to.
While we hope that #BachelorNation would use their platforms to speak out about democracy, systemic racism, & separate, unequal justice systems, we understand this won’t always be the case.
We, however, will continue to use ours. Join us.
This is what white supremacy looks like. The events unfolding at the U.S. Capitol today might be surprising to some, but it is not new to Indigenous communities & other communities of color. Indigenous water protectors during Standing Rock were met with violence. 📸: @Josue_Foto
