Ending violence against women requires more than just intervening once it has happened.
Prevention measures should be prioritized, including addressing social norms & power imbalances. Police & judicial systems must increase accountability for perpetrators & end impunity. #16Days

We cannot use these resources to lock-in policies that burden them with a mountain of debt on a broken and dangerous planet.

Violence against women & girls is rooted in unequal gender power relations, structural inequality & discrimination.

Addressing the issue requires listening to the voices of those affected and prioritizing women’s leadership in finding solutions. #16Days

I repeat my call for urgent, comprehensive action on gender-related killings & gender-based violence.

I am very pleased that the most recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is over.

Having seen the resilience of survivors & health workers there last year, I know that the same spirit of solidarity that led to this success must guide #COVID19 global efforts.
