How we deliver hot meals to Providencia island after Iota: We collect the food from our restaurant partners in San Andres and load up the plane. The DC-3 flies 20 minutes to meet our team on the ground. From there, we use trucks & vans to reach 28 distribution points and serve!
UPDATE from Guatemala 🇬🇹 WCK’s Fatima reports from Tenedores in Izabal where families have been cutoff from food after Hurricanes Eta & Iota. It’s chaotic but with help from the army, chef Yesenia & Lisette, hot meal distribution is smooth—we bring extra fruit daily for the kids!

Aldea Switch in Guatemala was badly hit by Eta. WCK served meals here until Iota cut off the community—so we delivered groceries by air. Today after a week of road repairs, it’s finally accessible! WCK’s Elisangela was able to get to the people & serve hot meals with fresh fruit!
The WCK team is now distributing 5,000 hot meals in 28 locations on Providencia, heavily damaged by Iota. This is Padre Jose’s church—now a shelter for many families. Each day when we arrive, they ring the church bell 🔔 to let everyone in the neighborhood know the food is ready.
WCK’s Teresa prepared a special Thanksgiving meal for the Yes We Can School in Tijuana today. It was her first time cooking a turkey, and the result was delicious! 🤤 Teresa continues to lead our efforts on the border, even through Covid, delivering meals to refugees every day.

Don Julio is a farmer in El Nueva Vida near Puerto Barrios, Guatemala hit by Eta & Iota. When rains broke yesterday, he returned from a shelter to find most of his crop lost. He worked to harvest what he could, stopping only for a quick photo—and to say thanks for the WCK meals.

🎥 On The Ground in El Paso, Texas during the surge in Covid cases. WCK’s Sigrid reports in earlier today as we were delivering lunch to healthcare heroes on Thanksgiving. This is Hospitals of Providence Memorial, which has dedicated floors and medical tents for Covid patients.
This used to be the most popular empanada shop in Providencia, run by Crispin & his daughters Maria Fernanda and Jackie. Now they are helping WCK serve their neighborhood with hot meals we are flying in—until we can cook on island. Today we also helped them get a roof installed!
Happy Thanksgiving from the WCK Team in Colombia! Felix reports in from the island of San Andres, as we load up thousands of meals for the island of Providencia. Cleanup continues there for 6,000 residents living in the open after Hurricane Iota destroyed 98% of infrastructure.
Through WCK’s Covid response, we’re providing fresh produce for families around the country—close to 500,000 boxes in total so far!🌶🥬 To go with the produce, we developed recipe cards with cooking tips for people to get creative in the kitchen & help bring a bit of extra joy ❤️
El Paso, TX issued a new curfew to try to get Covid infections under control & National Guard troops are helping deal with a growing number of bodies. Hospital staff continue to work non-stop through Thanksgiving, so the WCK team will keep bringing meals for our frontline heroes!
