The is a temporary stop to *most* deportations. People who have a final removal order will not be deported for the next 100 days starting 1/22
It excludes people who:
-arrived in the US after 11/1/2020
-signed a voluntary departure waiver after having a chance to see a lawyer
No president before Biden has ever put in place a moratorium on deportations. IT'S A BIG DEAL- but there’s still a lot more to get done. We must continue to demand an end to ALL deportations & the release of all people from detention.
Let's break down the deportation moratorium:
How to #ReimagineRoe ➡️ #AbortionJustice in the next 100 days:
✅A presidential budget w/o abortion covg bans
✅End outdated restrictions on medication abortion care
✅Protect essential workers from deportation
✅Enact $15/hr minimum wage
✅Economic recovery for all workers
This is terrific news, and a hard-won victory for activists who’ve spent so long pushing for our leaders to halt deportations. We have to keep up the fight for an immigration system that’s fair, humane, and reflects our values.
Grateful for your leadership and the role you played for making this possible, @ewarren !
🚨 WE HAVE TO PROTECT IMMIGRANTS!! 🚨 SHARE widely, our community needs to know what are our rights. #HereToStay
