Breaking News: The U.S. death toll from the coronavirus has now surpassed 400,000, less than a year after the nation’s first known virus deaths. The pandemic's single deadliest day was Jan. 12, when more than 4,400 people were reported to have died.
On Trump's last day in office, we hit the grim milestone of 400,000 deaths from #COVID19. A tragic end to an administration with no plan and no regard for suffering.
Tomorrow, we begin a new administration led by science and compassion. Hope and healing are on the horizon.
Battling climate change and reentering the Paris Agreement will be a top priority for our new government.
Today I’m leading 122 of my colleagues urging Pres Biden to make sure NAFTA and our international partners incorporate the Paris tenets into our trade deals.
Today is the last day of the Trump presidency, but the division that has defined the past 4 years will not leave with him. Tomorrow our work to reconcile injustice and rebuild a more equal, inclusive America begins in earnest. This is our moment and our call to action.
President-elect Joe Biden nominates Dr. Rachel Levine as assistant health secretary. She would be the first out transgender federal official to be confirmed by the Senate.
Dr. Levine is ready to crush this pandemic and ensure every American receives the care they need and deserve. With her historic nomination, we are one step closer to a government that truly represents America. Congrats, Dr. Levine!
As you honor my father today, please honor my mother, as well. She was the architect of the King Legacy and founder of @TheKingCenter, which she founded less than three months after Daddy died. Without #CorettaScottKing, there would be no #MLKDay. #MLK #BelovedCommunity

My letter to Democratic Leader Schumer.
The Senate should vote to dismiss the article of impeachment once it is received in the Senate. We will be delaying indefinitely, if not forever, the healing of this great Nation if we do otherwise.
This is the same Lindsey Graham that tried to get legal votes thrown out in Georgia, refused to acknowledge President-Elect Biden's victory, and has spent 4 years enabling Trump's vitriol.
Truth, accountability, and justice. That's how we will heal.
What else is in the proposal?
-Increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour
-$350 billion in emergency funding for state and local governments for front-line workers
-$50 billion for expanded coronavirus testing
BREAKING: U.S. jobless claims jump to 965,000 as layoffs remain high with economy in grip of virus.
Both #COVID19 cases and unemployment are once again on the rise. We must pass immediate relief and a plan to crush this virus. And in just 6 days, we will work with the #BidenHarris administration to do just that. Help is on the way.
