Our nation is surpassing 400,000 COVID-19 deaths on Trump’s last day in office.
The relief we may feel with Trump’s departure from office must be paired with reflection and collective mourning for all of the loved ones lost under his 4 years of negligence and destruction.

You want to thank Black women?
Cancel student debt -- all of it.
Black women carry more student debt than any other group in America.
Save your words of appreciation. Policy is our love language.
Like my sis said, “Policy is our love language.”
Today, there are no Black women in the U.S. Senate because our nation’s second-ever Black woman senator is now becoming our first-ever Black woman VP.
Black women shouldn't have to sacrifice our representation at one table to have a seat at another. Elect more Black women.

I am bringing St. Louis’s joy, passion, and love to the People’s House.
Honored to be on the January cover of @TeenVogue.

“I do not think that God approves the death penalty for any crime...[C]apital punishment is against the better judgment of modern criminology &, above all, against the highest expression of love in the nature of God.”

“It’s much easier to integrate a lunch counter than it is to guarantee an income to get rid of poverty for negroes and all people.”
On this MLK Day, let us push for more than just decency by recommitting to the struggle for genuine economic, social, and political equality.
If you listen to one thing this Saturday, let it be this. @DrStephanyRose is absolutely right. We cannot go back to normal — we must create a new normal where Black lives, Black dignity, and Black humanity are respected.
Republicans called the valid votes of Black, brown and Indigenous voters across this country “fraud” because they couldn’t believe that, in the middle of a pandemic, we overcame all of their attempts to disenfranchise us.
Executing Dustin Higgs is not justice — it’s murder at the hands of the federal government.
We must abolish the death penalty.
I wonder if any of the members who booed me for denouncing white supremacy are the same ones I’m working to hold accountable for trying to overturn the election and inciting the insurrection.
Quoted @RepKClark
On the House floor, my colleague @CoriBush and I both called out the white supremacy at the root of the attack on our democracy. She was booed. I was not. The difference is skin color.
Speak on it, Assistant Speaker Clark.
Quoted @CoriBush
What does it mean when they boo the Black congresswoman denouncing white supremacy?

Expel the Republican members of Congress who incited the white supremacist attempted coup.
