Thanks @steeletalk for having #CFIB on to talk! Government doesn't always get it right, especially when Orders pick "winners" and "losers". Glad to see businesses like @RioTheatre findings ways to reopen, & hoping BC Gov can look at wording of Orders to maximize fairness.
If you can't beat em - join em. Frustrated by BC COVID restrictions forcing theatres to close while bars stay open - the @RioTheatre throws in the towel & plans to reopen this Saturday as a sports bar. @CKNW
Well that’s frustrating as fuck. Go online to apply for @fordnation business Covid grants and after jumping through all the hoops I get the system is down error msg #fail #cfib
The Canadian economy is recovering, but how fast it recovers depends on vaccination rates. For many #businesses, waiting is not an option. Here are 3 ways #businessowners can increase cash flow for their businesses:

#CFIB estimates over 160,000 #businesses will close due to new lockdown restrictions. According to @CFIB ' #debt is going to choke the life out of many businesses.'
#BusinessOwners do have #debtmanagement options:

The number of "zombie businesses" struggling with unclear prospects is mounting
#CFIB thanks @PremierScottMoe for meeting to discuss #smallbiz pre-budget priorities for the upcoming 2021-22 Saskatchewan Budget & what other measures are needed to help small businesses recover.
CFIB has just received confirmation that Ontario small retailers are now prohibited from leaving a product on the doorstep of a consumer after 8 pm. Restaurant deliveries after 8 pm are ok. Yep, that's where we are at.
Another #CFIB 50th Anniversary story. CFIB broke even in 1972 after 15 months, but not big enough to pay me a salary. Started an entrepreneurship research center at Ryerson University. Goal. Teach #Entrepreneurship at colleges and #universities across #Canada. Successful.

Here's a fun #CFIB story. 1971. Crawled over desk to get to chair. Members supplied old furniture. Member called. "Do you need a secretary?" She was excellent but kept falling asleep. She was also a private dick taking photos at night of couples coming out of motel rooms.
More #CFIB. I bought our first building in 1972 with my father providing a mortgage. Our tenant was Ted Rogers (Rogers Stadium). No cash to travel to Ottawa, so Ted and I created a cable interview show that brought the politicians to me. It was called "Bullseye Ottawa".
@evoLEASEtion @cfibsk @CFIB In 1977, when I knew CFIB was going to a strong national voice, I started to hire permanent staff based on the telephone messages on my desk. The biggest line of tabs was from members needing advice and support. Those Member Counsellors had to be highly qualified. #CFIB
@QuirkyForum @cfibsk Grateful like many Canadian entrepreneurs- @CFIB helped me several times on big issues over the years & has been invaluable to our clients during #COVID19 response period. 🙏🏻
50 years ago I launched the #CFIB ( #Canadian Federation of Independent Business). Father ( #Toronto photo) guaranteed the lease, my operating loan, and slipped me money when I could not cover my mortgage. Today CFIB is helping #SmallBusiness survive the #pandemic.
@ctvwinnipeg Yes - they need the support of the community. It also keeps the $$ in the community rather than it leaving the country to go south of the border. #supportlocal #cfib #weneedsmallbusiness
@Mike30Trill @thereds8 Maybe the rich will take future risks in Covid19-impacted sectors, but can we expect to see regular Cdns spending their life savings, mortgaging their homes & giving up their full-time jobs for life as an entrepreneur after this?
I think it’s unlikely...

@TorontoStar Really?? 9 mths of being shuttered & the events industry can’t even get a mention? Yoga studios? Hairdressers. But not trade/consumer shows. Conferences. Tens of thousands still out of work. Wow. #cfib #liveevents
