Sunshine Market Demo

This is one of my sons favorite toys. He plays with it for hours.

Go on an imaginary shopping spree that supports pre-math skills and hand-eye coordination. Your child fills the cart with grocers and food shapes to sort, match and push through the swinging doors. The sturdy-handled market doubles as a storage space for the cart and 12 shape pieces. from 19m - preschool. www.discoverytoyslink.com/aculp

Active Learning Techniques

Facilitating Early Learning in Young Toddlers through Active Learning Techniques
Here are some simple, yet effective early child learning methods that a parent can use on a daily basis:
Adapting Multi-Sensory Learning Techniques
Every child is different. Every child has his or her own method of learning. Parents may need to find out their children's preference for a particular learning method. ...If you see that your child is showing an interest in a particular topic, then you may wish to help him or her learn it by using sensory learning methods. Let us say that your child is showing some initial interest in learning about colors, and then you can use colorful flowers or blocks to introduce the child to the world of colors. Let them handle vibrantly beautiful play blocks with their tender fingers. Let them feel the touch and sense of color blocks. You can even allow them to touch and feel the nice contours of colorful flowers. This type of learning is very effective, because it relates to the development of sensory learning in your young child.

Benefits: The most significant benefit of this learning method is your child's ability to process sensory information and later adapting it to learn how things look, feel and appear. Sensory learning is a very powerful learning method for young children.

Interact with your Child

When your child shows an interest in something, you may need to respond to that gesture. The way in which you respond to your child's actions and interests will have a significant influence on the extent of learning. When you interact with your child, he or she can easily understand that there is world in front of them. Let us say that your child is looking at the fingers.... At this juncture, you could tell your child - “these are your fingers”. When you say those words, you could be educating your child in three different ways:

1. Visual learning - The child can see the fingers and learn more about it.

2. Auditory learning - The child can listen to your words “these are your fingers”.
3. Touch learning - You will touch your child's fingers, when you comment on them. Your child will also feel your smooth and relaxing touch during this time.

Benefits: Since this is a three-way learning process, you can help children learn at a quicker pace. This will also enhance development of basic IQ in your child.

About Me........

Before I get started blogging away I thought I would share a few things about me. :) My name is Ashley I am married to a wonderful man named Andrew. We have a little boy named Axton who is turning one here in a few weeks. He is our pride and joy. He always makes us smile. We have two dogs and two cats who drive me crazy but I love them anyway. We have a Chow named Lincoln who loves to bark at everything at all hours of the night! Martini is our Lhasa Apso who can be tempermental at times but loves to cuddle and be sweet too. Frankenstein and Boo Boo are our cats. They are always getting into things and making me pull my hair out but I couldnt image not having them in our family.

I am a Discovery Toys Educational Consultant and couldnt imagine doing anything else. When I was pregnant with my son I was a festival with my mom and we saw a booth that had toys in it. We couldnt pass that booth up so we went in and explored a little and I fell in love with the toys. I was so blown away at the quality and concept the children can play and learn at the same time that I just knew I had to find out how to become apart of the Discovery Toys team. I have been a rep for about 6 months now and love everything about it. My son has just about every toy and game that they carry and I love playing with them with him. He loves the toys! I couldnt have made a better decision than to join Discovery Toys.

I love to do crafts and scrapbook. I have a huge area filled with Stampin' Up products that I try to tackle every now and then. I love love to cook. I am always trying new recipes. Love to bake as well. I am always in the kitchen trying something new.

I love everything Disney. We are always at the Disney Store and usually go to Disney World at least twice a year. We took our son this past December when he was 8 months old and it was such a wonderful unforgetable experience. My son loved the characters and magic of Disney and we cant wait to take him back. My mom is a Disney travel agent so thats been a great perk. My son is also featured in the Disney 25th Anniversary Video that is on www.disneystore.com We were so excited when we found out that he made it onto the video. :)
